10 Incredible Things to do in Maui You’ll Love

Hi everyone! I recently went back to Maui to visit my friend Lana, and saying I had an amazing trip would be an understatement. My first trip to Maui was only three days long, so I knew it was only a matter of time till I’d be back. I also want to give the biggest shout out to Lana, who housed me during my stay and drove me quite literally all around the island. Lana- you’re a great tour guide and an even better friend.

I also want to preface this blog post by reminding everyone of the importance of educating yourself about Hawaiian history and culture before and during your trip! The Hawaii State Public Library System, Bishop Museum, and Pearl Harbour have some great online resources that I urge you to read. Without further ado, here are 10 incredible things to do in Maui you’ll love!

1. Ho’okipa Beach

I’ll start by saying if you want to see sea turtles, this is your beach (just remember not to get closer than 10ft). This is a great beach for experienced surfers or a great place to watch the waves when there’s a swell. The beach park is also equipped with restrooms and showers.

2. Waihe’e Ridge Trail

I absolutely loved this hike. It offered so many beautiful viewpoints, and it’s a great workout. It is a pretty steep out and back and roughly 4.5 miles. I recommend arriving early and bringing plenty of water since there is not much shade.

3. Cliff House

This was such a cool spot in Maui, and if you enjoy cliff jumping, you will love it. To get here, you’ll have to walk down a short but scenic trail. You’ll know you’re in the right spot when you see the “cliff house.” The water here is breathtaking, and there are a few different spots where you can jump off the rocks.

4. Olivine Pools

These beautiful tide pools give you a stunning view of the west coast of Maui. If you come to this spot, please do so with caution. You have to hike down a very steep cliffside to get to them, and you should be very careful if you plan on swimming because the waves and currents are constantly changing.

5. Road to Hana

I think it goes without saying that Road to Hana is an absolute must if you are visiting Maui. There are so many beautiful stops along the way and great food options. For a more detailed Road to Hana itinerary, check out my last Maui blog post!

6. Iao Valley State Park

Iao Valley is truly breathtaking. Everything is so lush, and there is a lookout point where you can see the iconic Iao needle. You can also enjoy the walking trails and cool off in the stream. For information about park hours and entrance fees, click here.

7. Ulua Beach

Ulua Beach is one of my favorite dive spots in all of Hawai’i. I came here during my last visit, but I was happy to return. If you are going to snorkel anywhere in Maui, Ulua Beach is the place! If you’re not into snorkeling or diving, the beach is also a great place to chill and offers beautiful views.

8. Kepiniwai Park & Heritage Gardens

Kepiniwai Park is the perfect place for an afternoon stroll and picnic. The gardens are beautiful, and the park is free to visit. There are several themed pavilions in the park where you can learn about different cultures and their relation to Maui.

9. Honolua Bay

Honolua Bay is part of a marine life conservation district, so fishing is prohibited. This means that there is a ton of marine life here and the visibility is incredible, making it a great place to snorkel. Fun fact: this bay was a harbor used by Honolua Ranch to ship and receive supplies.

10. Baked on Maui

I was basically living off Costco snacks during this trip and only went out to eat a handful of times. One day, Lana took me to Baked on Maui for coffee, and I got one good look at the sweet treats and knew I would be coming back. We went back a few days later and got some of their desserts, and I can confidently say they were the best thing I ate in Maui.

That’s a wrap on 10 incredible things to do in Maui you’ll love! I hope you enjoyed reading, and in case you missed my last blog post, click here to read it!
