Best Family Friendly Things to do in Waikiki

Hello and welcome to The Aloha Blog! If you’re visiting Oahu and staying in Waikiki, I highly recommend exploring the rest of the island. You can click here to read about more of my favorite activities in Oahu. However, there are a ton of family friendly things to do in Waikiki. Without further ado, here are eight family friendly activities in Waikiki that I recommend.

1. Family Surf Lesson

A family surf lesson in Waikiki is one of the most fun and memorable experiences you can have in Hawaii. I highly recommend booking a lesson with Moniz Family Surf. They have amazing instructors who will make sure your experience is exciting and safe.

2. Duke Kahanamoku Lagoon

Kick back and relax with the family at Duke Kahanamoku Lagoon. This is a great spot to swim since you don’t have to worry about dangerous ocean currents. I also highly recommend watching the Hilton Hawaiian Village fireworks here on Friday nights.

3. Paddle an Outrigger Canoe

A family outrigger canoe ride in Waikiki is an unforgettable way to immerse yourself in Hawaii’s ocean culture. You’ll get to work as a team to catch waves and take in stunning views together. This is another activity you can book with Moniz Family Surf!

4. Na Hoku Catamaran Sail

Set sail on a family adventure with Na Hoku! During the sail, you’ll get to take in beautiful ocean views and enjoy the Waikiki Beach sea breeze. The sail is one hour and starts at .

5. Honolulu Zoo

The Honolulu Zoo is one of Oahu’s best family activities. You can learn about Hawaii’s indigenous species and meet a variety of different animals. Entry is from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and general admission for adults is . Infants under two have free admission, and there are discounts for children, military, and kama’aina.

6. International Marketplace

Located in the heart of Waikiki is the International Marketplace. It is an open-air shopping center with a ton of stores and restaurants for your family to enjoy.

7. Marugame Udon

Even the pickiest eater will love Marugame Udon. They offer handcrafted udon bowls that guests get to watch being prepared, making it an interactive experience.

8. Duke’s Waikiki

No family vacation is complete without a nice family dinner. I highly recommend Duke’s for this. Duke’s has a huge (and delicious) menu and an amazing atmosphere. Get the hula pie for dessert and thank me later!
