Balance is Key for Success

Hi friends! I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! That being said, holiday season has officially started and as we all know, this time of year can be a bit stressful. Between finishing my first semester of college, starting a new job, and spending time with friends, I can say my life has been pretty hectic lately. However, I’ve come to realize that balance is key. Thankfully, I have a bit of a break this week and found some time to write. If you’ve been stressed out over school or work lately, remember to take time for yourself!

I have two weeks until i’m officially done with my first semester classes. When it came to doing online school and making my own schedule, I found myself writing everything down. Due dates, notes, you name it, but this really did help me. I have a little planner and every Sunday night I would try to create somewhat of a schedule for my school work for the week, this helped me a ton. I told myself before I came to hawaii that I was going to make school my number one priority and stuck to that, even though it did lead to many late nights studying and early mornings doing work so I could tag along with whatever my friends were doing that day. However, after taking a gap year, I felt motivated to do school.

A few weeks ago I decided it was time for me to find a job. After having such an amazing job back home with ABOR, I spent a while searching for something I would really like. I wanted something that would teach me a new skill. I ended up interviewing for beach boys photography, and got the job. I get to take surf, catamaran, and canoe photos. I’m super grateful I landed such a great gig and for all the awesome people I’ve already met through the job. Personally, after working a crappy job in the past, I think that a job should be something you genuinely enjoy doing.

Here’s some of the first shots I took 😀

I love that this job is outside and in the water, in other words it’s perfect for me. Being outside really helps me manage my stress. I’ve been swimming, surfing, and hiking every day. You can check out some of the hikes I’ve been on here. Getting out and exercising is important, not just for physical health, but mental too!

Since being here I have met some incredible people. I have such an awesome group of friends that I couldn’t be more grateful for. Being here on its own is amazing, but having a group of people to experience it with makes it so much better. Traveling to a new place really teaches you how to put yourself out there. I try to say yes as much as possible when it comes to going out or meeting new people. I think it’s so important to surround yourself with people who motivate you to be a better person. When it comes to my friends and I we are usually motivating each other to get our school work done (mainly so we can all go out together LOL).

Me and my beautiful friends 🙂

I realized this blog post turned into somewhat of a life update, but I hope you guys enjoyed! Make sure you give yourself some time to relax this holiday season. Tell your friends and fam you love them and remember to be grateful for everything you already have in life. Thanks for reading! <3
